1 - Diary of a Single Dad

When I settled into what I hoped was a “forever” relationship and had kids, I would have never expected to be fighting in a court system for almost 13 years just to ensure my kids basic human rights were respected and listened to. To be told over and over by Social workers, Police and Lawyers that you’re only enduring this never-ending battle because of your gender was entirely defeating. Most of all, it made my wonder why the archaic laws and procedures we have in “family court” and “government” are even still being applied today. Especially when they really don’t seem to be “in the best interest of the children” at all.

I’m of the belief that nothing is ever wasted – good, bad or ugly. I don’t want what we endured as a family to simply fall on deaf ears. I want to see change. I want to see good come from this. That’s why I’m here sharing my story with all of you. Whether one or one million read this, I hope you find a safe place in this blog. A place to laugh or cry, to relate and find some similarities, to maybe hear some of your own thoughts and words resonated through my writing or just to simply be challenged to keep pursuing one of the most amazing things ever – your kid(s). It hasn’t been easy and I’m slowly pulling myself up from the depths of hell but they are worth it – every single second of it

Respectfully,

B
